Many of us are looking for solutions to the buildup of stress we face daily. You may have tried other meditation or mindfulness practices, or something taught through an app, and we find there are two main reasons people find these difficult, or claim they didn't work.
First, many of these practices are designed for monks, or other monastic people. They may work for a little while, but they aren't sustainable for householders - people like me (and most likely you) who have jobs, homes, families and hobbies. We can't move into a cave and meditate 20 hours a day so these practices don't fit our lifestyle and don't maintain their efficacy when we can't give them the time and dedication they need.
Second, when we use an app, online videos or books to teach us meditation, we don't really have a teacher. Meditation is a skill and it requires a qualified teacher to help you learn correctly and to support you. I believe this teaching should be in person, with the option for ongoing support. This is how I learnt. This is what worked for me and many other people I know.
Vedic Meditation is designed for householders. It's simple, effortless and fits into even the busiest schedule. It is also a self sufficient practice. Meaning on completion of the four day course you will be able to continue to meditate without the need for an app, another course or class, or even a teacher, even though support is available. You will have the skills and confidence you need to practice Vedic Meditation anywhere you feel safe to sit an close your eyes for 20 minutes.
The course fee is a one off cost and an investment into your health and wellbeing. It includes:
- The four day, Learn To Meditate Course - 4 x 90 min sessions (1 x private and 3 x group)
- You can resit the 3 x group sessions of the Learn To Meditate Course free of charge, anytime there is a spare space in a group course
- Access to group meditation with myself and my colleagues around the world, both in person and online, so there's always a group meditation that will work for you
- Q&A at group meditation to ask questions about your experiences in meditation and any experiences you've had since learning to meditate
- Invitations to meditator only events, including retreats, knowledge talks and workshops
- Ongoing support from me to you
Historically in our tradition, before Maharishi Mahesh Yogi began bringing the technique to the Western world, one would need to undertake a pilgrimage to India, find a master who was willing to teach them and then provide a week's salary, among other offerings, before being taught this practice. Thankfully, it's much easier to learn Vedic Meditation today.
Without a 'meaningful exchange', knowledge and skills aren't valued adequately, typically leading to the neglect and loss of what was gained.
With this in mind, I offer Learn To Meditate Courses for a suggested course fee. Please see the fees below and let me know what you consider to be a meaningful exchange, based on your income and ability to contribute when you reach out to book a course.
$770 - Standard Course Fee
$550 - Unemployed | Full Time Student | Pension/Concession Card Holder
Paying the suggested course fee, or more, when you're able to, allows for more flexibility if someone is struggling financially. If you believe you have the income and capacity to contribute more, please let me know.
If you would like to support someone who may be struggling financially, by sponsoring a full, or partial course fee, please reach out.
*If financial hardship is a true barrier to you learning this technique, please reach out and I can discuss options with you including payment plans
The above fee structure is for advertised, group courses. For private, corporate or destination courses, please reach out to discuss the details which will determine the course fee
Courses for children are tailored to each particular child and the fees above do not apply unless they are aged 16 + and are sitting in on a standard group course
Short answer is no. Online training simply doesn't provide the same experience and results for students. The best way to learn is in person, as I learnt, and I believe you deserve the best, so all of my courses are taught in person, for the best results.
My home is the South Coast of NSW, in Australia, so that is where the majority of my courses are held - somewhere between Nowra and Batemans Bay. I currently have courses planned fro Nowra, Huskisson and Milton.
I do, however, have family in both SA and VIC, that I visit regularly, if you would like to discuss a course and don't have access to a local teacher.
If you'd like to go all out and learn Vedic Meditation while away on holiday, please reach out and we can discuss options. Did someone say 'ultimate self care retreat on an island'?! I'm keen!
Vedic Meditation is taught over 4 sessions. 1 session per day, for 4 consecutive days. The first session is a 60 min 1:1 where you will receive your personalised mantra, and the instruction on how to use it properly. The following 3 days are up to 90 mins and are typically group sessions, unless you have organised a private course, and include a group meditation and Q&A.
I typically teach in small group settings of around 4-6 students.
This allows for plenty of time for Q&A and for time to be spent on each person's experiences, if desired.
*There is never a requirement to share in group sessions
Absolutely not. You will never be required to share, if you don't want to. Once you have completed the four day course you will always have support and the option to ask questions via email, if you prefer.
Many students find that a group setting is great as questions may be asked which you were thinking about.
Group meditations are also a great place to hear questions and answers, with no obligation to share, and you will be welcome to attend group meditation with myself and my colleagues around the world, both in person and online, after completion of the four day course.
Private courses offer you, the student, more flexibility in time, location and participants.
Typically 1:1, however private courses can also cater for family, friend or colleague groups who would like to learn together, not just 1:1.
We will work together to set the schedule for the course, as well as the location, for your convenience.
These courses also allow for the entire Q&Aportion of the course to focus solely on you/your chosen participants. While this isn't better or worse than a standard group course, some people prefer this option.
Private courses are a higher fee, dependant on the number of participants, location and other factors.
Please reach out if you'd like to discuss a private course.
Children can be taught to meditate, with a few requirements. In fact, Kids can make the best meditators!
The child must show genuine enquiry themselves. There is little, to no value in having your child taught before they are interested for themselves.
There must be at least one guardian who has taken a Learn To Meditate Course from a qualified teacher and who is meditating, so they can support the child in their practice.
The practice, course and fee structure for children is tailored to each particular child.
Minors aged 16 and 17 can join a regular Learn To Meditate Course with a guardian accompanying them. The guardian must either already be meditating using the Vedic Meditation practice, or be joining the course to learn themselves.
Please reach out to discuss if a child in your care is showing interest and may wish to learn.
