"We have an infinite number of reasons to be happy, and a serious responsibility not to be serious"

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

Why Vedic Meditation

Unlike other meditation practices, or mindfulness techniques, Vedic Meditation is built on a foundation of effortlessness. That's right - I want you to do less, to stop trying so hard!

Vedic Meditation is a simple, effortless mental technique that allows your mind to settle down to it's least excited state. We know that when this happens, the body follows. A relaxed body is a resting body and we also know that deep rest is the only way to clear away deep rooted, accumulated stress - the cause of almost all the issues we face today.

Stress fills our mind with a non stop rollercoaster of repeating thoughts, taking up space and energy that could otherwise be used for creativity and innovation. Stress robs us of the ability to be present in our relationships with our family, friends, community and co-workers. It makes us reactive, instead of interactive. It exacerbates almost every single medical condition you can think of and it is building up in our physiologies far quicker than sleep can dissolve it.

When you learn Vedic Meditation you will receive a personalised mantra, along with the correct instruction for how to use it. Meditation is a practice, a skill, and to utilise it effectively you need a teacher to show you how. If I found a technique that was easier and more effective, then trust me, I'd be practicing and teaching that instead, but I haven't. Want to rediscover who you really are under all the layers of accumulated stress? Join me for a free intro talk, ask your questions and see what Vedic Meditation is all about.

I also teach with Be Here Nowra - a local, not for profit, who are building on a Community Happiness Project started in 2022 by Barron Hanson.

This includes filming for a documentary looking at 'The Maharishi Effect' - the belief that 1% of a population can create measurable change simply by meditating.

Season 39, Episode 2 of the ABC's Compass shares a glimpse into the project, alongside Joh Jarvis's The Light Inside, which teaches meditation in prisons in the US.
